A New Twist on on Ear Training
A New Twist on Ear Training: Creative Ways to Improve Listening Skills
About the session:
Listening is a critical part of music-making, but one that we teachers often assume is developing along with the fingers. We tell our students to "listen" but often students are not sure what they should be listening to or for. Students can get so caught up in the process of playing all the notes correctly that they forget to listen to the sounds they are creating. Critical listening skills are often what separate a good performance from an amazing performance, so the topic is relevant for all ages, levels and instruments.
In this session Ms. Van De Loo will lead attendees through a series of hands-on activities designed to heighten listening skills and get one’s ears and eyes more in tune with the score.
